Spike Brits has been named on the bench for City's Premier League clash with Everton on Boxing Day.

The 17-year-old goalkeeper is one of two shot-stopping options on the bench, alongside the experienced Scott Carson.

With Ederson currently out injured, Stefan Ortega Moreno is the man between the sticks for Guardiola's side.

Brits, born in 2007, signed for City as a scholar in the summer of 2023 following his impressive progression through AFC Wimbledon’s Academy.

Known for being a composed goalkeeper who is comfortable at distributing the ball across a range of distances, Brits spent his debut campaign in sky blue with the Under-18s.

He made eight appearances in between the sticks.

Brits has also featured for England's youth sides all the way up to Under-18 level.

For the 2024/25 season, he moved up to the EDS squad to compete in the Premier League 2.

However, last week he was part of the travelling party that went to Villa Park to face Aston Villa - helping Ortega Moreno and Carson warm up in the West Midlands.

Now he's part of the matchday squad for the very first time.

Congratulations to Spike on this achievement.
