Wolves must get rid of Patrick Cutrone

Wolves were rather busy behind the scenes during the previous summer transfer window in terms of new players coming in and current ones moving out with a mix of loan deals, permanent moves and free transfers.

One player that made the move away from Molineux on a loan deal is attacker Patrick Cutrone, who joined Italian club FC Empoli until the end of the season.

Which club did Wolves loan Willian Jose from in the 2021 January transfer window?

Celta Vigo Real Betis Sevilla Real Sociedad

Since arriving at the Serie A side, the 24-year-old has not had a particularly fruitful time there with just two goals and two assists under his belt in 24 appearances across all competitions.

In addition to his lack of consistent goal contributions, the Italian’s overall performances have not been much to shout about either with WhoScored giving him a rating of 6.31/10, making him one of the lowest-rated players to have started more than one league game for the club.

Wolves signed the centre-forward back in the 2019 summer transfer window in a deal worth a reported fee of £16m from AC Milan.

Since then, Cutrone has only made 28 senior appearances for the Old Gold across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing four assists along the way.

When he has been given the chance to play for the Midlands club, his performances have come under scrutiny with Tim Spiers previously saying that the attacker has looked “miles off match fitness” in the past.

After having previous loan spells at Fiorentina and Valencia, it’s safe to say that the player has never really been able to fully settle at Molineux and from the looks of how things have gone for him this season, Bruno Lage won’t be itching to see him return when his loan deal ends in the summer.

Should Wolves get rid of Cutrone this summer?

With that in mind, it could be in everyone’s best interest if the club were to call an end to Cutrone’s time as a Wolves player when the season ends, which could be the same thing that happens with Adama Traore if he makes his loan spell with Barcelona permanent.

If this were to happen and the Old Gold said goodbye to both of those attacking players, this could then lead to them being on the hunt for some new recruits to come in and add some added depth to Lage’s squad in that department.
