Man City, Chelsea and Man United continue their unbeaten starts, while Everton, West Ham and Aston Villa still can’t find a win.

United snatch a late point and remain unbeaten [Man United 1-1 Arsenal]

An 82nd-minute equaliser from Melvine Malard was enough to see the points shared in Manchester, in front of a record 8,348 crowd at Leigh Sports Village. Despite Arsenal’s dominance over the 90 minutes, their only goal came from a first of the season for Alessia Russo who scored against her former club to break the deadlock in the 63rd minute. The Gunners’ interim manager Renee Slegers expressed her disappointment at the draw while Man United boss Marc Skinner, who was celebrating his 100th game in charge, was more positive. He said: “Arsenal were good when they came out in the second half and we defended exceptionally well – we rode the storm and you have to in these big games. We showed energy, quality and commitment defensively and I’m really happy with the point.”

Chelsea’s perfect start continues [Everton 0-5 Chelsea]

Chelsea maintained their 100% win record, as they thrashed Everton 5-0, and scored their 20th goal in five matches. Goals from Aggie Beever-Jones, Erin Cuthbert, Guru Reiten, Wieke Kaptein and Ashley Lawrence compounded Everton’s misery, as the Toffees remain stuck to the bottom of the table. The victory saw Sonia Bompastor become the third manager to win their first five matches in the WSL, after David Parker and Jonas Eidevall, who interestingly also both beat Everton in their fifth game. Meanwhile, Brian Sorenson will need to look for fresh solutions to build up Everton’s points tally and ability to score, with their single goal of the campaign coming from an own goal.

City dominate to retain top spot [Crystal Palace 0-3 Man City]

City had to be patient before another long-range worldie from Jess Park broke the deadlock at Selhurst Park. Jill Roord, whose performance manager Gareth Taylor described as ‘fabulous’, made it two before last season’s golden boot winner Bunny Shaw scored her seventh of the season across all competitions. Taylor said: “It’s 10 games in all competitions unbeaten, one draw and nine wins. When you look at some of the opposition in there it’s pretty impressive, but we don’t get ahead of ourselves, we try to stay humble and are aware of areas we need to improve on.”

Taylor Hinds double wraps up Liverpool win  [Aston Villa 1-2 Liverpool]

A valuable three points for Liverpool, as defender Hinds scored two goals in 17 minutes, putting the visitors two up at half-time. Matt Beard said Liverpool were ‘worthy winners’ while Robert de Pauw described his team’s first-half performance as ‘terrible’ – Villa remain one of three teams who are still winless in six.

West Ham winless start continues [Spurs 2-1 West Ham]

Spurs bounced back from three losses in a row and a goal down at half-time to secure a win, through a Beth England equaliser followed by a disastrous Hammers own goal in stoppage time. Spurs sit seventh, while West Ham are winless in 15 WSL games, a run Rehanne Skinner will be desperate to end as her team sit in 11th on just two points.
