Xavi’s Barcelona future clarified after Real Madrid defeat | OneFootball

An update on the future of Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernández has been provided, late on Sunday night.

Xavi’s name, of course, has taken its place centre stage in the Spanish football headlines across the evening to date.

This comes amid fresh calls for the Spanish tactician to be sent on his way by the Barcelona brass.

The Blaugrana marked their return to action a short time ago, facing off with arch rivals Real Madrid in the final of the Supercopa de España.

A hugely underwhelming display, though, ultimately culminated in Barca being put to the sword by four goals to one.

Amid what has proven a disappointing season all told in Catalunya, large sections of the club’s fanbase, in turn, have not been at all shy in calling for Xavi’s head.

Speaking to the media on the back of the evening’s Clásico action coming to a close, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of the man on the bench in Barcelona was put to club director Deco.

The Portuguese, though, was unwavering in his response.

Adamant that Xavi maintains the full backing of all in a position of power at the Camp Nou, he explained:

“Questions about Xavi make no sense,” as cited by Fabrizio Romano. “Xavi has full confidence from all of us. This defeat doesn’t change our plans”.
