Florian Wirtz is on the radars of a host of top clubs for the summer of 2025 when he is expected to leave Bayer Leverkusen, with FC Barcelona among his admirers.

Indeed, the Blaugrana have been watching the 21-year-old German international for a long while now and see him as a target for the future, once their finances are in order.

Reports had suggested that Joan Laporta, Deco & co. are eyeing him for the summer of 2025, but a move for the Bayer Leverkusen sensation could be in jeopardy.

Real Madrid confident about signing Wirtz

This is because, Barcelona’s arch-rivals Real Madrid are confident of closing the deal to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen in 2025.

This claim comes from Alfredo Martinez of SPORT, who states that top officials at Real Madrid believe that they have everything in order to sign the 21-year-old German sensation next year.

The Spanish capital club enjoys a good working relationship with Bayer Leverkusen and are confident that they can convince the player to join as well.

Furthermore, despite Barcelona’s economic situation likely to improve by 2025, question marks still remain if they will be in a position to spend in excess of €100 million on just one player.

After all, Wirtz’s market value stands at €130 million and Leverkusen will likely hold out for that sum or even ask for more depending on how things go for him in the coming year.

So, there is a risk of Barça missing out on Wirtz’s signing even though the 21-year-old has previously gone on record that the Catalan giants have been a dream club of his since childhood.
