AC Milan wingback Theo Hernandez feels that Inter Milan are a “great team” after his side’s Supercoppa Italiana final comeback.

The Frenchman spoke to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset after the match, via FCInterNews.

Milan got a huge win in the context of their season in the Supercoppa Italiana final this evening.

Playing in their second ever match under Sergio Conceicao, the Rossoneri made it two comeback victories in a row.

But while the 2-1 win over Juventus in the Supercoppa semifinal was a big boost in confidence for Milan, this was something else entirely.

The Rossoneri were facing their city rivals Inter. The derby is certainly always a unique match for both teams.

And the Nerazzurri have certainly looked a stronger team than Milan in recent years.

Even with Milan having won the previous league meeting, Inter are still well clear of them in the Serie A table.

And the Nerazzurri are the team who have won the three Supercoppa titles prior to this season.

Therefore, when Inter went 2-0 up, it seemed as though they had one hand on this season’s trophy.

The fact that Inter are such a formidable side certainly made Milan’s win feel even more important.

There is still a lot of work for the Rossoneri to do under new coach Sergio Conceicao.

But the energy of the derby, along with the motivation of fighting for silverware in the Supercoppa, has certainly given the team a big boost.

After the match, Milan wingback Hernandez said that “We played a good match.”

“We know that Inter are a great team,” the Frenchman continued.

Hernandez admitted that “It’s been a difficult period for me.”

“I’m not at 100%,” added the Frenchman. “But I’m trying to help the team.”

And of Milan’s motivation, Hernandez admitted that “Fonseca getting sacked was also our fault, and we wish him the best.”

“We haven’t had much time with Conceicao,” he added. “But we did well.”
