Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres can leave next summer for around €60 million despite having a release clause of €100m, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg.
Arsenal are one of several Premier League clubs ‘specifically interested’ in the Sweden international hitman, but they will have to wait until the end of the season to sign him.
Gyokeres was regularly linked with Arsenal last summer after he bagged 43 goals and 15 assists across all competitions, and his impressive start to the new campaign has kept him on their radar.
The 26-year-old has tallied 18 goals and seven assists this season, and Manchester City and Liverpool are also monitoring him.
Arsenal have started the campaign reasonably well but are five points off top spot and are reportedly desperate to bolster their attacking ranks next summer.
Manager Mikel Arteta could look to finally sign an out-and-out striker despite Kai Havertz’s reasonable form.
However, pipping competition to the former Coventry City hitman could prove tricky as he will not be short of interest if he maintains his current form.
The Gunners are desperate to go one better this season after finishing behind Man City in each of the last two seasons.
Adding a prolific striker to their ranks could help Arsenal become regular title winners in the future.
