Comotto admits Tonali is a ‘reference point’ after Milan Primavera brace: “An honour” | OneFootball

Christian Comotto’s brace helped AC Milan Primavera reach sixth place this morning, as the side beat Udinese 4-0.

The midfielder shone in today’s game, showing why there is so much faith in him for the future, and speaking after the game, Federico Guidi was very complimentary of the youngster’s game and how he did against Udinese.

As a young Milan midfielder, there are few references better than Sandro Tonali. A fan of the club who is reckoned to return one day as the Rossoneri’s captain, but above all, a great player and person by all accounts.

For many, the Newcastle United midfielder would be an idol, and many will have had a chance to witness his ability and class first hand, and Comotto admitted as much after the game when asked about his performance and idols by Milan News.

How do you face this end of the season, in which you are fighting for the play-off zone?

“It was my last home game because then I will be busy with the European Championship, but I will certainly be cheering for my team. We hope to reach the goal we set ourselves at the beginning of the year. We must continue on this path. In my opinion, we will get great satisfaction this year.”

How much do you feel you’ve improved this season?

“A lot. I have to thank Mr Guidi, all my teammates and the director because they have a lot of faith in me. I try to give 100% on the pitch. Compared to the beginning of the season, I feel like a different player. As I said, a lot of credit goes to my teammates who have helped me grow a lot.”

Who do you look up to?

“Tonali is a great point of reference for me. In addition to being a great player, he is also a friend of mine. He gives me some advice, it is an honour to be compared to a player like him, I still have a long way to go. His level is almost unreachable, I have to continue to improve, and for me, he is a point of reference.”

How important is the bond between you?

“I’ve been saying this since the beginning of the season: this group is special. It’s been a difficult period lately, we shouldn’t think about it but we must continue like this. We are a great group, a great team despite being among the youngest, in my opinion we are having a great championship.”

If the Diavolo are able to create their own new Tonali through the Primavera, it will only be a positive thing.
