After leaving Paris Saint-Germain last summer as a free agent, Kylian Mbappe has an opportunity to return to the French capital less than a year following his exit.

The UEFA Champions League is in its quarterfinal stage, with the first leg beginning next month. Real Madrid will face Arsenal, while PSG will meet a Premier League club too in Aston Villa.

Nonetheless, looking ahead to the semifinals, if Real Madrid and PSG win their tie, it will set up a clash between these two sides in the next round. Additionally, it means Mbappe is returning to the Parc des Princes, a place he called home for eight years.

In an interview with Le Parisien, the French media outlet asked Mbappe whether he’s looking ahead to the semifinals and pondering a potential tie against PSG. Despite the excitement of this possible matchup, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner isn’t putting the cart before the horse.

“The worst mistake you could make would be thinking about that,” Mbappe said (h/t Diario AS). “It reminds me of last year when everyone assumed there would be a PSG-Real Madrid final. And in the end, we didn’t make it to the final.

“So, I’m only thinking about Arsenal, who will be our opponent in the quarterfinals, and my team, Real Madrid. We are participating in all competitions. We have the opportunity to achieve something great in this final part of the season, and all our energy should be focused on that, on ourselves, and on the matches ahead.

“These kinds of projections should be left to the general public, to the people who have the right to get carried away or speculate. We don’t have time for that.”
