Certain players didn’t exactly cover themselves in glory in yesterday’s 5-2 victory over Falkirk, and one of them was Luis Palma…

The Honduran played like a man who knows he doesn’t have a future at the club, and that could very well prove to be the case. Luis was the subject of interest from clubs towards the end of the transfer window, and apparently this interest was rebuffed, most likely because we didn’t have a replacement lined up.

The fact that Luis has rarely figured in Brendan’s plans kinda tells its own story. Luis’s time at club hasn’t exactly been a disaster, but it hasn’t exactly been the best either. Nine goals and nine assists in 37 games is a decent record, but it glosses over the bigger picture.

He doesn’t seem to have the energy or enthusiasm to press the way Brendan demands. He also looks incapable of beating a man, a bad trait in a wide player.

Sure he’ll score the odd goal and provide an assist from time to time, but he’s not in the same bracket as Daizen Maeda, James Forrest, and Nicolas Kuhn.  Basically all the players that he’s competing against for a starting spot have all moved ahead of him.

Even Yang who has barely featured this campaign looked sharper and brighter than the Honduran when he came on against Falkirk, so Luis could well find himself further down the pecking order, indeed he’ll likely to be bottom of the selection list for wide attackers.

It could well be that Luis will leave the club in the next window, either permanently or on loan. Maybe someone should tell him he’d be better as a number ten than winger as he can be creative and does have an eye for goal.
