Manchester City's quest to book their spot in the Champions League knockout stages has been boosted by the presence of striker Erling Haaland in training on Tuesday.

Haaland appeared to tweak his knee in the late stages of City's 4-0 victory over Newcastle United at the weekend, immediately sparking fears about his availability for Wednesday's all-or-nothing clash with Real Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League play-off tie.

City are looking to overturn a 3-2 deficit from the first leg and appear set to call on their star striker to get the job done as footage of Tuesday's training session clearly showed Haaland involved in all team activities.

That was not the only injury boost for City as Pep Guardiola welcomed the trio of Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake and Jack Grealish back to training after missing the Newcastle game.

Grealish was substituted early in the first leg against Real Madrid with an apparent muscle injury, while Dias needed resting at the weekend and Ake complained of an illness which saw him kept out of the squad to face Newcastle.

Despite such significant injury news, Guardiola has remained realistic in his assessment of the challenge facing City, who must travel to the Santiago Bernabeu and win by two goals if they want to seal a victory inside 90 minutes.

Acknowledging his side have fallen well short of expectations this season, Guardiola insisted City have just a "1% chance" of advancing to the knockout stages at Madrid's expense.

"But as [long] as you have a chance, we will try, that's for sure." he added.
