The January transfer window presents Ruben Amorim with his first chance to mold Manchester United in line with his vision. While bigger changes are expected in the summer, reports indicate Amorim has already set his sights on a key player from Paris Saint-Germain.
Manuel Ugarte, one of PSG’s summer signings, has thrived under Amorim’s leadership before, showcasing their strong connection.
Now, speculation suggests Amorim is interested in reuniting with Nuno Mendes, whom he previously coached at Sporting Lisbon, and bringing the talented full-back to Old Trafford.
However, Manchester United’s pursuit of Mendes seems to have stalled. According to L’Équipe, Mendes has reconsidered his future and is now inclined to stay at PSG.
His representatives have even hinted at the possibility of a contract extension, with Luis Enrique playing a key role in convincing Mendes to remain in Paris. This shift has reportedly led Manchester United to drop their interest in the player.

TBR Football’s chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey, reported on Monday, citing sources, that Manchester United have been evaluating left-wing backs this month and that Lecce star Patrick Dorgu could be their preferred choice, with talks already underway.
United believe the ideal candidates for the role are Dorgu, Maxi Araújo, and Nuno Mendes. While Manchester United had been pursuing Mendes, PSG insisted on a price of over £50 million.
Now, the Portuguese international is expected to sign a new deal at the Parc des Princes. United’s focus has shifted to Dorgu, who they think they can sign for less than £30 million.
Moreover, this news comes after CaughtOffside reported on Monday, citing sources, that Manchester United have made Wolves left-back Rayan Aït-Nouri their top transfer target in that position, with Mendes no longer appearing to be an option.
