Serie A giants Milan have reportedly joined several European clubs in hot pursuit of Manchester United outcast Marcus Rashford. According to the Daily Mail, Sergio Conceicao’s men could launch a loan bid for the versatile forward in the coming days.

Rashford has fallen out of favor at Old Trafford after Ruben Amorim’s arrival. After being omitted from the squad for the last two Premier League matches, the Red Devils homegrown star is ready to pack his bags. Meanwhile, Amorim’s men are open to letting him leave on loan.

While Man Utd would prefer an outright sale, Rashford’s eye-watering £325,000-a-week wages remain a substantial stumbling block. Furthermore, interested parties would likely have to allocate up to £40m to take him away from Manchester. Milan can’t afford such figures.

However, they hope to lure Rashford on loan until the end of the season. Any agreement with Man Utd would require a mandatory buyout option, which could be an issue for Milan. Strapped for cash, the Rossoneri would probably need to sell before spending.

There’s another obstacle for Milan. Rashford reportedly prefers Spain over other destinations. Heavily linked with Barcelona and Real Madrid in the past, he hopes to move to La Liga this winter. But the Catalans can’t do business after failing to comply with Financial Fair Play.

Meanwhile, the Santiago Bernabeu is no longer an option after Los Merengues signed Kylian Mbappe last summer. Therefore, Milan could suddenly jump at the head of the queue, though they must watch out for Paris Saint-Germain.

In addition to Rashford, Milan had considered approaching Liverpool for Darwin Nunez. However, the Uruguayan’s staggering salary made them change their mind.
