Garang Kuol one of those nominated for the April 2025 Premier League 2 Player of the Month.

It was always going to be a long-term project when the 18 year old signed for Newcastle United in 2023, having played so little senior football and even minimal full-time training.

However, definitely promising signs showing now that Garang Kuol is making significant progress, especially when it comes to creating and scoring goals. I think he could thrive this time at a decent level if Newcastle United find the right club next season for another loan spell.

Newcastle United official announcement – 5 May 2025:

‘Newcastle United forward Garang Kuol has been shortlisted for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for April.

The highly-rated 20-year-old, who joined the Magpies from A-League side Central Coast Mariners in January 2023, recorded two goals and two assists in as many league matches at second-string level.

The Australia international, who represented his country at the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar, netted a brace in the young Magpies’ 7-1 thrashing of Reading at St. James’ Park before registering two second-half assists against their Royals counterparts.

Kuol, who spent the duration of the 2023/24 campaign on loan at Dutch outfit FC Volendam, has netted eight goals in all competitions for United’s second-string, returning to action in January after suffering a quad injury during pre-season.

Nominated alongside Kuol are West Ham United pair, Lewis Orford and Kamarai Sawyer as well as Braiden Graham of Everton, Chelsea’s Donnell McNeilly, Divin Mubama of Manchester City, Southampton’s Lewis Payne and Jack Thompson of Nottingham Forest.
