It has been an eventful transfer deadline for Abakar Sylla (22), who instead of joining either Southampton or Parma, will instead remain at RC Strasbourg Alsace, as per Le Parisien.
Southampton and Strasbourg were in talks over a deadline-day loan move for the 22-year-old, but L’Équipe reported in the early evening that Parma were set to wrap up a loan with an option to buy for Sylla. Southampton’s talks with Strasbourg therefore collapsed.
Demoted down the hierarchy of defenders at the Meinau, Sylla looked set to leave the club on a loan deal with Parma having the option to make the deal permanent for an €18m fee. However, Le Parisien report that a lack of time meant that the deal fell through.
L’Équipe added more details, stating that everything had been signed for the defender to join Parma, apart from the contract. Sylla was en route to sign, however, he did not arrive in time to do so. He therefore stays puts in the Alsace region.
