The latest match-winning display conjured up by Atlético Madrid star Antoine Griezmann proved a significant one when it comes to the history books in Spain.
Frontman Griezmann is for his part of course fresh off an evening to remember on Sunday.
This comes owing to his exploits in Atlético’s La Liga showdown with Sevilla.
With his side trailing by three goals to one last night, the Rojiblancos icon first pulled one back for Diego Simeone’s troops just beyond the hour mark.
After Samuel Lino drew Atlético level a short time later, the stage was then set for Griezmann to completely steal the show, notching the game’s winner deep into injury time to complete a remarkable turnaround.
And, in the proess, the Frenchman continued his climb up an altogether high-profile list…
As revealed by Mundo Deportivo, citing statistician Alexis Martin, Griezmann is now in 4th place when it comes to individual players to have been responsible for the most points for their teams in the history of La Liga.
In total, the 33-year-old has now secured 131 points for Atléti.
This is one more than Real Madrid legend Karim Benzema, and just one fewer than fellow Blancos icon Cristiano Ronaldo.
Sitting 2nd on 142 is yet another ex-Real Madrid attacker, namely Raúl, with Barcelona hero Lionel Messi way out in front, with 221 points to his name.
