Sky Germany reports that Bayern Munich’s Frans Krätzig is close to moving to Red Bull Salzburg on a permanent deal in the summer.

The German is currently on loan at Heidenheim, having struggled on loan at Stuttgart in the first half of the season. Under Frank Schmidt, Krätzig has played 14 times, scoring once and assisting twice as Heidenheim battles for survival in the Bundesliga.

The 22-year-old is set to leave Bayern on a permanent basis and will cost RB Salzburg a fee of around €3.5m. Krätzig and the Austrian side have already reached a verbal agreement. Krätzig will return to Austria, having spent last season on loan at Austria Vienna.

Krätzig has played seven times for the Bayern senior side since joining in their youth team in 2017 from Nürnberg.

The departure of the versatile player is the next example to show how poor Bayern are at integrating young players into their senior set-up, despite having one of the best academies in the country. Away from Jamal Musiala, Aleksandar Pavlovic and Josip Stanisic, no one has been able to assert themselves in the first team in recent years.

Krätzig’s Heidenheim teammate Paul Wanner is likely to be the next casualty of Bayern’s broken promises as die Rekordmeister continue their pursuit of Florian Wirtz.
