Before the transfer window closes on February 3, Manchester United are expected to make a final decision on Marcus Rashford’s future.
Realistically, their two options are either reintegrating him into the squad or selling him, as leaving a £325,000-a-week player frozen out on the bench each week would drive down his transfer value substantially – just look at Jadon Sancho, whom United will take £48 million loss on when Chelsea activate his £25m buy clause at the end of the season.
In regards to selling Rashford, his potential suitors have been deterred from the get-go due to his extortionate pay packet, meaning both he and the club will have to come to an agreement whereby he accepts a lower wage to complete a move elsewhere.
One option that’s now believed to be on the table, which would suit all parties, is that the 27-year-old could be used in a swap deal for Victor Osimhen, as per talkSPORT.

Napoli would have to recall the Nigerian from his loan at Galatasaray, where his prolific form has led to him being hailed as ‘the best striker in Turkey’ after he notched 12 goals and five assists in only 15 appearances.
Osimhen departed Naples in the summer after a transfer debacle culminated with him being stripped of his number and exiled by Antonio Conte. When a Saudi Arabian switch fell through, he signed for the Super Lig outfit on a season-long loan – though Napoli retains the option of terminating the deal and selling him permanently this month.
That way, they can also benefit from his departure by perhaps welcoming Rashford to Conte’s ranks, therefore seeing him reunite with ex-teammate and fellow Carrington graduate Scott McTominay.
After 18 matches played, Napoli sit second-placed in the Serie A table but joint on points with leaders Atalanta, who lead through goal difference, having scored 16 more goals. As such, more firepower in attack may be instrumental to their Scudetto charge.
