Inter secured three important points in the title race against Empoli this evening.

And they did so with a couple of notable names in the starting eleven.

Kristjan Asllani continued his run of starts in the team with Hakan Calhanoglu still absent due to injury.

Asllani has gotten a mixed reception for his last couple displays. But the Albanian did not look out of place against Empoli this evening.

Meanwhile. striker Mehdi Taremi was also in the Inter starting eleven.

It was a frustrating evening for the Iranian in that he was unable to find his first Serie A goal.

However, Taremi did lead the line and link up with teammates well.

Farris: “Asllani Did Well Vs Empoli, Taremi Just Needs Turning Point At Inter”

Inter assistant coach Farris explained his halftime message to the team. “I tried to calm the guys down,” he said.

“We were expecting Empoli to be a bit more aggressive. But they put up a strong defensive wall.”

“We worked to try and move the ball quicker,” the Inter assistant coach said of the adjustments in the second half. “And not give them any reference points.”

“Then it was our bomber [captain Lautaro Martinez] who unlocked it for us,” Farris said of the long-range opening goal by the Argentine.

“He’s getting back to doing what he knows how to,” the Inter assistant coach was confident about Martinez’s return to form.

Meanwhile, Farris said that “I want to congratulate Kristjan Asllani.”

“San Siro is a tough stadium to play in,” he noted. “But he had a solid match.”

“He didn’t do badly against Bologna,” Farris added of Asllani. “Despite having received some criticism.”

“But he’s shown that he’s capable of playing in that position.”

Meanwhile, Farris also addressed the lack of goals by striker Taremi this season. “We still see his movements, his generosity, the way he runs a lot,” the Nerazzurri assistant coach said.

“He needs to find that breakthrough goal,” he added.

“It would be nice if it comes at the San Siro. But one way or another, he’ll give us a big hand.”
