Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi confirmed Denzel Dumfries and Piotr Zielinski will skip tomorrow’s match against Bayern Munich.
Speaking at the conference via FCInterNews, the 49-year-old offered a final fitness update on his squad.
Lautaro Martinez and Davide Frattesi helped Inter secure a vital 2-1 first-leg advantage in Munich.
However, the job is only half done, with the Bavarians arriving at the San Siro determined to enact revenge on the Nerazzurri.
Therefore, Inzaghi’s charges must proceed with extreme caution as they aim at another treble-winning season.
Meanwhile, Inzaghi hailed his side’s performance in the first leg.
“More than tension, there’s a great sense of pride in how the season is unfolding,” he said.
“Tomorrow, we must forget the result from the first leg, but not the excellent performance we put in.
“We moved the ball well and defended when needed.
“However, we know the quality of our opponent is extremely high.
“We’ll need to put in a great performance with intensity and the right attitude. Aggressiveness will be crucial.”
Fatigue has become an issue for Inter, with high-stakes fixtures coming every three days.
Yet, Inzaghi insists he and his players are well-equipped to handle these challenges.
“Mkhitaryan already gave a good answer about fatigue,” he added.
“We know it’s a demanding season, but playing every four days can actually help.
“This new Champions League format has brought renewed energy for everyone.
“Last year we qualified in November, this year we had to wait until January 29.
“There’s more fatigue, yes, but also satisfaction.
“We want to keep going, knowing we’re up against a very strong team.
“It’s not just in terms of budget or wages, but because of their players and coach.”

With Denzel Dumfries injured, Inzaghi had to turn to Matteo Darmian to fill the gap on the right wing in Munich.
A lack of pace often saw the Italian veteran struggle in the offensive phase.
Unfortunately, the Dutch star remains on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
“Bayern are a great team, with a coach I admired as a player and who is proving to be very smart as a manager,” Inzaghi continued.
“He’s given Bayern solid principles, they press well and have plenty of talent.
“We’ll need to be technically sharp to keep the ball as much as possible.
“Tomorrow, it’ll be even harder because their pressing is top-level.”
However, Federico Dimarco is back to full fitness and will likely return to the starting line-up tomorrow.
“Yesterday, he was doing well, just like Carlos Augusto, Zalewski and Frattesi, who had all come out of the Cagliari match with some minor issues.
“Dumfries and Zielinski are still out, along with Correa who’s not on the list. Everyone else should be available.
“Playing every 48–72 hours isn’t easy to manage. I’d love to have Dumfries and Zielinski available tomorrow.
“Thinking back to Atalanta, when we were down to 14 players, things have improved.
“I’d really like to have them back because I’d rather be making choices with my own head and not based on injuries.
“We’ve had our share of difficulties. I’m not using it as an excuse, because all teams face them.
“But it’s also due to the intensity of this year’s Champions League. We had to prepare for eight different opponents.
“With qualification only secured in late January, that took its toll and caused a few more issues than usual.”

Reflecting on Inter’s first-leg showing, Inzaghi said: “The boys did very well, but of course, you always analyze the match.
“There were moments where we could’ve been more aggressive without the ball.
“In possession, we could’ve been more clinical once we bypassed their pressing.
“There were situations where we could have done better – hopefully, we’ll do that tomorrow.
“We must not think about the result or about past encounters, which haven’t always been positive against Bayern Munich.
“The players are mature, the team knows what to do. We know we’re facing a great opponent.
“We respect them, but with the right focus, we can put in a great performance.”
Then, Inzaghi confirmed Inter have practiced penalties in training.
“That’s always part of preparation in two-legged ties,” he added. “With five substitutions, there’s even more attention paid to it.”
On the other hand, he discussed the impact Thomas Muller could have after scoring in Munich.
“He scored in the first leg, and had a great game against Dortmund. But we know what Bayern are.
“Sané was suspended in the first leg, but they still had Gnabry or Coman.
“It’s a team full of talent and aggressive players. We’ll need another great performance and must build on what we did in Munich.”

It’s only a matter of time before Inzaghi puts pen to paper on a new contract at the San Siro.
“I’m very happy at Inter, and that will always be the most important factor in any decision,” he said.
“But talking about my future or the league on the eve of a Champions League match doesn’t seem appropriate.
“That said, I’ve always made it clear I feel good here and have an excellent relationship with the club.
“We’ll talk about everything calmly at the end of the season.”
Finally, he praised Inter for becoming the first team to beat Bayern in Champions League on their turf in four years.
“It was certainly a very well-played first leg,” he maintained.
“But when it comes to two-legged ties, you need to be cautious. Had it been a final, I would’ve said something else.
“We did extremely well there, considering Bayern hadn’t lost at home in four and a half years.
“We’re happy, but that was just the first leg.
“In 24 hours, we’ll need to put in another great performance against the strongest team in the world alongside Real Madrid.”
