Inter Milan midfielder Kristjan Asllani admits that there was plenty of “luck” to his spectacular olimpico goal against Udinese.
The Albanian spoke to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset after the Coppa Italia clash, via FCInterNews.
Firstly, he downplayed his goal straight from the corner, emphasizing that winning was what mattered.
Asllani scored his second ever goal for Inter today.
The 22-year-old found the back of the net straight from a corner during the first half of the Nerazzurri’s Coppa Italia round of sixteen clash with Udinese.
Asllani whipped in an accurate inswinging cross. And the entire Friulani defense seemed to switch off, with no one reacting to clear the Albanian’s delivery.
By the time that Udinese keeper Edoardo Piana tried to react, it was too late.
Furthermore, the cross from Asllani had plenty of power, and it dipped straight into the goal.
Of his olimpico goal straight from the corner flag, Asllani admitted that “I’ve never done that before.”
“But it was luck,” the Albanian continued.
“The important thing isn’t the goal. It’s that we won and reached the quarterfinals.”
“We’re very happy,” Asllani went on. “Because we’re starting to get results consistently.”
“We’re happy, and we have to keep going like this.”
As far as the squad rotation, with he and some other players who don’t often start getting opportunities this evening, Asllani said “It’s not the most important thing.”
“What matters is the group,” the former Empoli midfielder insisted. “We’re a fantastic group.”
“There’s an incredible chemistry between us,” Asllani went on. “In and out of the dressing room.”
“There are young players. And there are experience.”
Asllani noted that “In this respect, I want to thank Arna [striker Marko Arnautovic, scorer of Inter’s opener this evening.]”
“Because he helps the younger players a lot,” the Albanian noted.
“Including the ones who come up from the Primavera. For us it’s very important to have players like him in the group.”
