Italian journalist Paolo Bargiggia has ripped into Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini after his team’s loss to Inter Milan, calling him a “crybaby.”

Bargiggia tweeted in response to the coach’s remarks about refereeing during the match. He insisted that the real problem was Gasperini’s relatively weak team selection.

Yesterday, Inter beat Atalanta 2-0 in the Supercoppa Italiana to advance to the final of the competition.

Both Nerazzurri goals came in the second half, and both were courtesy of Denzel Dumfries.

For the all-important opener, Dumfries produced an improbable acrobatic effort. He scored with a bicycle kick.

However, after the match, Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini raged that the Dutchman’s goal should never have counted.

Bargiggia Rips Into Atalanta Coach Gasperini: “Crybaby”

Gasperni pointed to three specific reasons he felt that the Inter opener should have been disallowed.

Firstly, the La Dea coach pointed out that the corner from which the goal was scored should not have been awarded.

Then, Gasperini claimed that there were two fouls in the sequence leading to the goal.

Firstly, he argued that Stefan de Vrij was blocking off goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi.

Then, the Atalanta coach argued that Dumfries had committed a foul. He felt that the Dutchman had shoved over Giorgio Scalvini in order to make space for the effort.

However, in the view of Italian journalist Paolo Bargiggia, this was little more than the usual whinging from the Atalanta coach – who has never held back his outspoken views.

Bargiggia called Gasperini “A poor sport and crybaby as always when he loses.”

Furthermore, he argued that “Instead Gasperini should apologize to Atalanta fans and to Italian football for snubbing the Supercoppa by playing a starting eleven worthy of a Thursday friendly.”
