Shortly after the signing of KSC striker Baku Zivzivadze was confirmed, 1. FC Heidenheim welcomed another new addition late Friday afternoon. As had been reported earlier in the day, FC Bayern München prospect Frans Krätzig will spend the duration of the season in the Swabian Alb. The 21-year-old joins fellow FCB loanee Paul Wanner on the Brenz.
A natural left-back, Krätzig will have the chance to compete with FCH regular Jonas Föhrenbach for a starting spot. Krätzig can also serve at right-back, play in midfield, and work higher up on the attacking wing. Heidenheim have a need in all such areas, meaning that the German youth international will surely get an audition somewhere soon.
FCH sporting CEO Holger Sanwald lauded Krätzig's "enormous potential" in a club released statement. The player himself thanked everyone involved for "making this transfer possible" and vowed to - following some "insightful months [on the bench]" - "prove myself in the Bundesliga by fighting my way through at 1. FC Heidenheim".
