The Los Angeles Galaxy benefited from winning the 2024 MLS Cup last year. They not only earned a berth in the 2025 Concacaf Championship, but also an automatic bid to the Round of 16.

It's been since December 7th that the LA Galaxy have won a meaningful soccer game. After starting the 30th MLS regular season with three straight losses, they also lost last Wednesday in Costa Rica to Herediano, 1-0.

The stars aligned for the Los Angeles Galaxy during the 2nd leg. They not only won for the first time in 2025, but they did so by scoring four goals.

What was different this time out for the Los Angeles Galaxy?

The LA Galaxy head coach, Greg Vanney, elected to use the 4-4-2 formation again. This time, Tucker Lepley made his first career start, playing up top with Miguel Berry.

John McCarthy took the start for the LA Galaxy as Novak Micovic was benched. McCarthy played well last Wednesday, despite the 1-0 defeat in Costa Rica.

Berry and Julian Aude scored in the first half, just eight minutes apart. The LA Galaxy didn't stop there.

Gabriel Pec also found the back of the net early on in the second half. Christian Ramirez scored his first goal as a member of the LA Galaxy at the 73rd minute of play.

The young, 17-year-old defender, Harbor Miller, impressed yet again. He recorded two assists in the game. With the win, the Los Angeles Galaxy advance to the quarterfinals to play Tigres UANL.

This victory gives a much needed jolt of energy and confidence that was lacking thus far. Next up for the LA Galaxy, they return to the Pacific Northwest to play the Portland Timbers.

The two teams split contests last season, with each team winning at home. The Los Angeles Galaxy are still looking for their first win of the MLS regular season.
