According to a report from Marc Mechenoua, Stade de Reims could look to accelerate their interest in Montpellier HSC’s Joris Chotard (23) if Marshall Munetsi (28) were to be sold before the end of the transfer deadline day.
Munetsi has become a transfer target for Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers and they have reportedly sent a big offer to Reims for the midfielder. If he were to leave, Reims would look to replace him with Chotard.
Reims have made contact with Montpellier in recent days over their interest. However, they face some competition from SC Freiburg who are also looking at the Olympic star.
Joris Chotard to leave Montpellier after failed departure in the summer?
The midfielder who represented France at the Paris Olympics over the summer looked poised to leave the south of France before the start of this season as it had become increasingly clear by the end of the 2023/24 campaign that Chotard was ready to take the next step in his career.
This was a situation that suited Montpellier as they were in desperate need of additional funds and Chotard’s price only looked to be increasing as he helped France reach the Olympic final. Wolfsburg approached with a bid of around €9 million, however, this was rejected under the assumption that the Bundesliga side would return with an improved offer.
