Wolverhampton Wanderers are looking to sign Stade de Reims midfielder Marshall Munetsi in the closing hours of Monday’s deadline day.
According to a report from Foot Mercato, Wolves have put in a “crazy” bid to sign the 28-year-old defensive midfielder as they look to exploit the French transfer market.
Wolves have already signed one player from Reims in the January window. Emmanuel Agbadou joined for a fee of around £16.6 million.
He signed a four-and-a-half-year deal at Molineux, with the option of an extra 12 months, and became Vitor Pereira’s first signing at the club.
Now, Wolves are trying to sign another player from Reims after they made an approach for Zimbabwe international Munetsi.
The central midfielder has been a real pillar for the French club since he joined in 2019 from Orlando Pirates. He managed 21 goals and 14 assists in 159 matches and can play in multiple positions.
Wolves, who are struggling to stay up in the Premier League, are in desperate need to add a few players to their ranks. They are looking to add depth in midfield and a few signings are expected before the end of Monday’s deadline.
The report claims that Wolves have possibly submitted an offer close to what they paid for Agbadou, and there is a possibility that a deal can be agreed.
At the moment, discussions between the two clubs are ongoing and Reims could see their best player leave today, which will be a massive blow for them.
Wolves returned to winning ways last weekend after they defeated Aston Villa 2-0 at home. With that victory, they have moved out of the relegation zone, but they need to keep on winning games to increase the gap with other relegation-threatened clubs.
