Transfer Deadline Days is here and it’s expected to be a busy final day of business for Premier League clubs. Here are the players and deals to keep an eye on before the deadline.

Mathys Tel

Mathys Tel has been one of the most coveted centre-forwards of the winter window. After initially deciding to stay at Bayern Munich, Tel’s change of heart saw enquiries from clubs across Europe.

Tel turned down a permanent move to Tottenham last week, having outlined his preference for a move to Manchester United. However, talks between the clubs over a loan move have failed to find a breakthrough with Bayern seeking an obligatory purchase clause. Arsenal, Chelsea and Aston Villa are also keen.

Christopher Nkunku

Unhappy with a fringe role at Chelsea, Christopher Nkunku has explored his options throughout the window. Bayern Munich expressed interest in bringing the former RB Leipzig striker back to the Bundesliga, while Manchester United have held talks over a deal to sign the Frenchman.

Nkunku has scored 13 goals in 13 starts for Chelsea this season but has seen his minutes largely restricted to cup competition. Chelsea won’t want to lose him without a replacement lined up but an exit has not been ruled out.

Axel Disasi

Axel Disasi has his choice of club as an exit from Chelsea nears. Chelsea are prepared to sanction a straight loan move for the out-of-favour defender amid approaches from Aston Villa and Tottenham. Disasi has given the green light to the former, who are seeking cover for the injured Tyrone Mings and Pau Torres.

Nico Gonzalez

Manchester City have been active in the transfer market this window but the club’s midfield issues remain unsolved. The club’s stunning 5-1 defeat at Arsenal on Sunday could ramp up efforts to sign Nico Gonzalez from FC Porto. The ex-Barcelona midfielder has five goals and three assists in the Primeira Liga this season and a release clause of €60m.

Leon Bailey

Manchester United have held tentative talks with Aston Villa over a potential move for Leon Bailey. The winger’s future at Villa Park is uncertain following the £22.5m arrival of Donyell Malen from Borussia Dortmund and the signing of Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United. A loan move for PSG’s Marco Asensio is also close.

Having allowed Antony and Rashford to leave this month, Bailey would boost the attacking stocks in Ruben Amorim’s underperforming squad.

Ben Chilwell

Ben Chilwell is set to undergo a medical test at Crystal Palace ahead of his loan move from Chelsea. Frozen out under Enzo Maresca at Stamford Bridge, the left-back is looking to relaunch his career after an injury-plagued period in West London. Following the club’s win at Manchester United on Sunday, Palace boss Oliver Glasner said he expects to strengthen on deadline day.

Joao Felix

Another potential departure at Chelsea is forward Joao Felix, though it is unlikely he will join Aston Villa in this window.

Villa have held talks with Chelsea over a move for Felix, who like Nkunku has featured only sporadically in the Premier League this season. However, it is understood he will either stay at Chelsea or move abroad on deadline day. Felix only re-joined Chelsea from Atletico Madrid last summer.

Marco Asensio

Aston Villa are reportedly close to agreeing a loan deal for Paris Saint-Germain winger Marco Asensio.

The Spaniard has fallen out of favour under Luis Enrique and has been an unused substitute in 11 of the club’s last 15 games. The 29-year-old has underwhelmed at PSG since arriving from Real Madrid. Previously, he produced 93 goals in 286 games for the Spaniards and won three La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies.

Eli Junior Kroupi

West Ham are on the verge of announcing the loan signing of Evan Ferguson from Brighton but have no plans to stop there. Negotiations are ongoing with Lorient over a £35m deal to sign forward Eli Junior Kroupi.

Tottenham are also interested in the 18-year-old, who has scored nine goals in 12 Ligue 2 starts this season. West Ham’s bid is for an initial £15m, with the remainder made up of performance-based add-ons for goals and appearances.

Taiwo Awoniyi

Stuck behind the free-scoring Chris Wood at Nottingham Forest, Taiwo Awoniyi has been named as a target for several Premier League rivals. West Ham were linked with the Nigerian earlier in the window, while Everton have emerged as suitors following Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s hamstring injury. Awoniyi has struggled with injuries at Forest but boasts a respectable record of 17 goals from 31 starts in the Premier League.

Josh Brownhill

Premier League clubs are considering approaches to sign Josh Brownhill from Burnley before the deadline. The midfielder is out of contract in the summer and several sides are eyeing a cut-price deal for the 29-year-old. Brownhill has nine goals and four assists for a Burnley team chasing promotion from the Championship and his displays have earned interest from Celtic, Everton and Wolves.
