The frontline of Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal, and Raphinha has been key as FC Barcelona find themselves in a position in which they are being considered one of the favourites to win all the big competitions they are participating in.
The Brazilian winger is having an excellent season in particular, and with his goal in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final match against Borussia Dortmund, he reached Lionel Messi’s numbers in the Argentine’s best UCL season.
Keeping in view his good performances, there has been speculation about his contract renewal with the Blaugrana club. The winger’s current contract with the Catalan side is ending in 2027, but the Barcelona Sporting Director Deco and Raphinha’s agent have already started negotiations for this renewal.
Both sides recognize that the forward’s performances this season make him worthy of a significant wage increase, but according to a report from SPORT, this aspect can still turn out to be a point of contention between these two parties.
The report claims that in these first meetings between the agent and the Blaugrana official, the former had communicated the high demands of the Brazilian winger to extend his contract.

But Deco gave a forceful reply and let the agent know that if there was another club willing to offer Raphinha’s desired wages and also a compelling offer at the end of this season, the Catalans would consider a sale.
Barcelona would not sell the forward for less than €80-90 million, and such an offer could arrive from Saudi Arabia, but the player himself would not be looking to change scenery before the end of the next season, especially considering the World Cup is set to be played in the summer of 2026.
The Blaugranes value Raphinha, and want him renewed, but with a salary lower than what the Brazilian is demanding. They can offer him a new contract similar to the one they offered to Ronald Araujo, with a release clause that is not truly exorbitant.
Still, the Samba star is not really untouchable, unlike Lamine Yamal, and Barcelona also need to undertake a big sale to strengthen their squad in the next summer.
