Plymouth Argyle's Miron Muslic exit fear may be eased due to Hull City factor

Miron Muslic may not be convinced over the Hull City project given their recent history of sacking young coaches.
Plymouth Argyle will be in the process of making early preparations for their return to League One, as they chase an immediate return to the Championship.
Despite an admirable effort towards the end of the campaign under Miron Muslic, the Pilgrims suffered second season syndrome by returning to the third tier, joining Cardiff City and Luton Town in League One for the upcoming 2025-26 campaign.
While Plymouth will have to make the inevitable cuts that relegation typically brings, the Green Army are expected to be competing towards the upper end of the division once again, aiming to replicate Birmingham City’s charge back to the second tier.
Given the superb job Muslic did to have Plymouth fighting for survival on the penultimate game of the season in his first English job, the 42-year-old has been linked with the vacancy at Hull City, after the Tigers parted company with Ruben Selles.
However, Plymouth could be boosted by the fact Hull have sacked previous up-and-coming coaches in recent times, with this factor potentially putting Muslic off from taking the job.
As per journalist Darren Witcoop, Hull City are keen to appoint Plymouth Argyle boss Miron Muslic as their new manager - with the 42-year-old emerging as the favoured candidate.
Despite suffering relegation with Plymouth, Muslic has gained admirers for his work at Home Park, with three wins in the final five of the season putting Argyle on the cusp of safety, with the club potentially surviving had he been appointed earlier.
Former Cardiff City manager Erol Bulut is also said to be in the Tigers' thoughts. Bulut was dismissed by the Welsh side in September 2024, but is being considered for a swift return to English football.
While Plymouth fans may feel some anxiety of their League One promotion hopes fading from a Muslic exit, they should take some comfort from the fact that Hull have waved goodbye to previous promising young coaches under the tenure of owner Acun Ilicali.
The departure of Ruben Selles followed the unexpected dismissal of Liam Rosenior, who has tasted success in France with Ligue 1 side Strasbourg since his move.
With Selles, the Spaniard did a fantastic job at Reading under the trials and tribulations of their takeover process, leading him to earn the hotseat at the MKM Stadium.
Taking over the team 22nd in the table with just three wins from 18 league matches, Selles managed to secure the Tigers’ Championship status with a final day draw away at Portsmouth, and with the club expected to build on the survival under the 41-year-old, Selles was relieved of his duties.
It was an even more bizarre situation with Rosenior after the former Tigers defender secured a seventh-placed finish, finishing just three points off the play-offs back in the 2023-24 campaign.
The decision backfired completely given the 40-year-old managed to push Strasbourg to a seventh-placed finish in Ligue 1, narrowly missing out on European football.
Failing to stick with a manager for a long-term project seems to be hindering any Hull progression, and you feel hitting the reset button once again could damage their chances of rising up the table next term.
This could be a major concern for someone like Muslic, with owner Acun Ilicali proven to not give time to his managers to transform their fortunes.
Due to this, Plymouth fans should be hopeful of Muslic remaining committed at Home Park, which will significantly boost their chances of becoming a Championship side once again given his opening impact in the English game.
