FLW's Barnsley fan pundit has identified one player Rotherham United should be concerned about this Saturday
This article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more…
Barnsley will be looking to get back to winning ways this weekend in order to put an end to their poor run of form.
The Tykes will face Rotherham United, who themselves are four games without a win going into their clash against Darrell Clarke’s side.
The Millers are 14th going into Saturday’s meeting, five points behind Barnsley, and can move into the top half of the table with a win.
Clarke’s team haven’t won any of their last six, with their last victory coming against Crawley Town in January, leaving them 11th.
When asked which player should Rotherham be concerned about this weekend, FLW’s Barnsley fan pundit Andy Symcox named Davis Keillor-Dunn.
He believes the 27-year-old provides the strongest attacking threat, and is someone supporters won’t want to see in Clarke’s starting lineup.
“The one player in the Barnsley team against Rotherham United that the Millers should be concerned about would, in my view, be Davis Keillor-Dunn,” Symcox told Football League World.
“Whether Keillor-Dunn is playing as a midfield player or as a striker or as a number 10 behind the striker, he has an eye for goal and can cut in from the left-hand side in particular and stroke the ball into the far side corner.
“He’s a very busy player who knows how to finish, so I would, as a Rotherham fan, be worried about him in our lineup.”
Keillor-Dunn has one goal in the Tykes' last two games, scoring in their 2-1 loss to Stockport County, which ended a five-game spell without finding the back of the net.
The 27-year-old had been on a streak of five goals in six games prior to this dry spell, so supporters will be hoping his strike on 8 February will get him back into goal scoring form for this weekend.
Barnsley’s recent poor run of results has put Clarke’s position under pressure, with the team now 10 points adrift of a play-off place with 15 games remaining in the campaign.
Clarke’s position will be harder and harder to justify if this winless run continues going into March.
Rotherham themselves are also in poor form, so neither can afford to lose this weekend.
If Barnsley want to remain in the mix for a top six finish then they have to win on Saturday, and Keillor-Dunn might just be the man that can go and earn those three points for the club.
The 27-year-old has 10 goals to his name already this season, and if he can add to that this weekend then maybe Barnsley can get their long-awaited second win of 2025.
