Mohamed Salah’s agent has offered an encouraging signal regarding the star forward’s future at Liverpool. With Salah’s contract expiring this summer, the forward remains central to Liverpool’s plans, and negotiations for a new deal are progressing positively despite external interest.
Amid growing speculation surrounding Salah’s future, his agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, has hinted at optimism for a Liverpool stay. In a rare post on X, Issa replied to Empire of the Kop, stating: “Excellent at his job,” in reference to Arne Slot’s managerial performance. Issa’s cryptic updates are significant, as he posts infrequently and often uses the platform to signal intentions regarding his client’s future.
This statement, Issa’s second post of 2025, has sparked hope among Liverpool supporters that Salah may be prepared to commit his future to the club under Slot’s leadership.
According to TEAMtalk journalist Ben Jacobs, contract negotiations between Salah and Liverpool are proceeding as expected. Jacobs confirmed: “New deals for Salah and Van Dijk are going to plan.” Talks have focused primarily on contract length, with Salah favouring a two-year deal with an additional one-year option.
Liverpool are keen to maintain Salah as their highest-paid player, but the club also wants to ensure financial protection should his contributions diminish over time. Despite the complexities, “Positive talks are ongoing with Salah,” and Liverpool remain confident, knowing he prioritises their offer over others.
Despite Liverpool’s optimism, interest from Saudi Arabia remains a potential complication. Al-Hilal has made another direct approach to Liverpool, inquiring about the possibility of Salah joining them early to compete in the Club World Cup starting on June 10th.

While this approach is part of due diligence rather than a signal of Salah’s departure, Saudi dealmakers are reportedly ready to offer the Egyptian star over £160 million per year, placing him on par with Cristiano Ronaldo in the Saudi Pro League’s earnings chart.
However, sources close to Salah suggest his focus remains on Liverpool, and no decision will be made before finalising discussions with the club.
Salah is not the only player in contract discussions. Liverpool are also negotiating with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, both of whom are out of contract this summer. While talks with Van Dijk are progressing well, uncertainty lingers over Alexander-Arnold’s future, with Real Madrid positioning him as their top target.
Liverpool are determined to secure new deals for all three stars, but Salah’s situation remains the most pivotal. His future could influence the club’s direction under Arne Slot as they pursue domestic and European success.
