Manchester City will receive a monetary figure as part of a loan deal for Kyle Walker heading out to AC Milan for the remainder of the season, it is being reported.
The 34-year-old is now closing in on his wish to leave the Premier League champions at the earliest opportunity this month, having submitted a formal request to explore opportunities abroad during the final years of his career.
Both Manchester City’s Director of Football and manager Pep Guardiola respected the desires of Walker when speaking publicly, particularly in the case of the latter, who insisted that the legendary full-back still has up to four years left at the very summit of European football.
Guardiola told a media conference of Walker earlier this month, “Incredible player, incredible physicality. When focussed, he’s unstoppable. A top class player!
“If he’s fit and his mind is there, he can play one, two, three, four more years. I’ve never seen a player with this physical condition in my career.”
But when asked for a further update on the situation surrounding the defender ahead of Manchester City’s Premier League clash with Paris Saint-Germain this week, there was to be nothing to add.
However, fresh reports from European media have now claimed that an agreement is in place involving the Premier League champions and Italian giants AC Milan, who have seemingly secured the signing of the right-back.
That is according to the information of L’Equipe’s Loic Tanzi, who reports that Manchester City and AC Milan have now reached an agreement over a paid loan with an ‘easily achievable purchase option’ for veteran England right-back, Kyle Walker.
Some members of the Manchester City dressing room were left somewhat surprised by the news that Walker had requested to leave the club, after it was revealed by Pep Guardiola during a post-match press conference after the 8-0 win over Salford City.
Nathan Ake was the first player to openly speak out about Walker as he told reporters last week, “He’s massive for Manchester City, been massive for us over the years. This year as well, he’s a big character in the squad.
“He deserves a lot of praise for all the years he’s been a top player for this club… He’s a big player for us, big character. Good guy as well, I’m very good with him. Let’s see what happens. There’s no doubt he’s been a massive player for us.”
In joining AC Milan, there is a belief that Kyle Walker has rejected advances made by Saudi Arabia to explore a potential deal, while his boyhood Sheffield United have kept the door open to a potential return in future, despite the switch to Italy at 34 years of age.
