Paris Saint-Germain’s Achraf Hakimi has today taken home the Prix Marc-Vivien Foé, an award given to the season's best African player in Ligue 1.
The honour represents a first for Les Rouge et Bleu's right-back and vice-captain, who had been among the nominees for the award in every season since his arrival in the French capital in 2021 without ever actually winning it.
Having come second in the voting last year, the Morocco international was the judges' most popular choice this time around thanks to his excellent top-flight campaign in 2024–2025. In fact, Hakimi's total of 364 points was nearly 200 more than that of OGC Nice and Côte d'Ivoire forward Evann Guessand, while RC Strasbourg Alsace's and Senegal's Habib Diarra finished third in the standings.
Incidentally, the Atlas Lions' captain has now become the fourth Moroccan to bag the award, following in the footsteps of Bordeaux's Marouane Chamakh in 2009, Montpellier's Younès Belhanda in 2012 and Lille's Sofiane Boufal in 2016.
