The past year and a half has been a special one for Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal, who has exploded into one of the most exciting young footballers across the globe.
Following his brilliant breakthrough last season, the teenage sensation went on to help Spain win the UEFA Euro 2024 in the summer and has taken his game up a notch this campaign under Hansi Flick.
Following his meteoric rise, Lamine won the Kopa Trophy at the Ballon d’Or Gala in 2024 and also bagged the Golden Boy award.
Now, Lamine could be destined to win another major honour.
Indeed, Lamine Yamal has been nominated for the Laureus World Breakthrough of the Year Award for 2025.
The teenage sensation will compete against Victor Wembanyama (basketball), Letsile Tebogo (athletics), Bayer Leverkusen, Summer McIntosh (swimming) and Julien Alfred (athletics).
Given his explosion and how he has become a key member of the Barcelona side and the Spanish national team, it will not come as a surprise to see Lamine win the big award.
In addition to Lamine, Barcelona have been represented in two more categories in the Laureus World Sports Awards.
Aitana Bonmati, who won the Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year Award in 2024, has once again been nominated for the honour for this year.
Meanwhile, Barça Femeni are in contention to win the Laureus World Team of the Year Award, where they face competition from Real Madrid’s Men football team.
