Football stops for no team it seems, and FC Barcelona may just be the most recent victims of that fact. Things have been going good for La Blaugrana in 2025 so far, and their most recent result was massive. Against Atletico Madrid, at the Metropolitano of all places, Barcelona managed a huge comeback win just recently.
From being 2-0 down to going 2-4 up, Hansi Flick’s men managed to secure three crucial points. However, as the international break now kicks off, it seems that it has spelled more bad news for Barcelona than good news.
That is because, as reported recently, La Liga has finally set a date for the originally postponed game between Barcelona and CA Osasuna. As a result of that postponement, the new date for the La Liga fixture has now been set as the 27th of March.
However, there is outrage within the Catalan club due to this decision. According to SPORT, moreover, there is a serious intention at Barcelona to appeal against this decision made by a disciplinary judge, as they believe it hurts their competitive ability in this fixture.
The reason is because two of Barça’s most important players, Raphinha and Ronald Araujo, willboth be unavailable. That is because they will still be on international duty with their respective National teams and will have virtually no time to rest or take a break as the game against Osasuna will take place on the 27th of March.
Considering that La Blaugrana will have more players than Osasuna out on international duty, they are at a bigger disadvantage. Moreover, with the La Liga title race being closer than ever, Barcelona cannot afford to drop points in any single game.
For that reason, while the club will have to make a return earlier than expected, they hope to appeal this decision. With the game against Osasuna now scheduled to take place on the 27th of March, it will be followed up shortly after by a game against Girona on the 30th of March, giving Barcelona less than 70 hours between the two crucial league games.
Now, led by club president Joan Laporta, Barcelona will look to argue against this decision. It remains to be seen what ends up happening, but with the likes of Marc Casado and Inigo Martinez injured, as well as others still being away on international duty, Hansi Flick’s team will noticeably be short-staffed when facing Osasuna.
