Fikayo Tomori was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham just 24 hours ago, but the defender has now officially turned down the move, according to a report. Indeed, he’s now fully focused on tomorrow’s derby.
Last night, reports suggested that Milan and Tottenham were in advanced talks over Tomori, with the English side keen on landing the centre-back. This morning, however, doubt crept in as it was reported that the player wasn’t convinced about the destination.
According to Luca Bianchin this evening, Tomori has now ‘officially’ turned down the offer from Tottenham. The Englishman wants to stay at Milan and is fully focused on the Derby della Madonnina against Inter tomorrow, in which he’s expected to play from start.
Milan and Spurs had reached an agreement on a transfer worth over €25m, as the journalist continues, but ultimately it wasn’t possible without the player’s go-ahead. The manager Sergio Conceicao has also made it very clear that he’s more than happy to keep the defender.
In the event of a transfer, a replacement would have been needed as Milan didn’t intend to use the proceeds for Santiago Gimenez’s transfer. With just a few days remaining, it’s clear that it would have been difficult to find a centre-back at a good price.
