Buoyed by another hat trick from their Danish striker, his third in a row at the Stade Louis-II, the Rouge et Blanc secured a big victory against the Champenois and are back on a level with Nice in third place (3-0).
Four in a row! Largely dominant during the 90 minutes against Stade de Reims, the AS Monaco’s players recorded a convincing victory, their fourth in a row in the league at home, to get closer to the podium again (3-0). It was a victory won under the eyes of President Dmitry Rybolovlev, who was present at the Stade Louis-II. ✍️
After slipping to fifth following a loss to Lille, AS Monaco’s players wanted to get closer to the podium again when they hosted Reims. On a run of three wins in a row at home, they would be facing a struggling team that has gone 12 games without a win. Our Monégasques had to be wary, however, because these same Rémois had eliminated them from the Coupe de France and haven’t lost in the Principality since 2013-2014.
I watched their Coupe de France match yesterday against Angers. In my opinion, it was a team that showed a lot of quality in the first half with high pressure. Their qualification was deserved after the first 45 minutes. They were also courageous against Lyon and Paris. They have good players, they are a physically strong team. It will be a big fight on Friday.

To approach this match, Adi Hütter lined up in a 4-4-2 with Breel Embolo and Mika Biereth in attack, supported by Maghnes Akliouche and Takumi Minamino. The double pivot would be occupied by Denis Zakaria and Moatasem Al-Musrati, while Vanderson, Thilo Kehrer, Christian Mawissa and Caio Henrique comprised the defense and Radoslaw Majecki was in goal.
From the outset, the AS Monaco players besieged the Reims goal and Mika Biereth’s header grazed the right post (1′), before Maghnes Akliouche’s left-footed curling effort was caught by Diouf (10′). The chances continued but neither Moatasem Al-Musrati (15′), nor the Danish striker twice (19′, 32′), nor Breel Embolo managed to break the deadlock (27′).
The opening goal finally came shortly after the half-hour mark by our inevitable number 14, who finished a perfect cross from Caio Henrique with his right foot (34′). It was the Brazilian’s fourth assist for Mika’s eighth goal in… only seven games! He would then score his ninth just five minutes later after a very nice bit of skill, allowing him to equal Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s performance in 2012 (39′).
The lead was doubled in just five minutes and the Rouge et Blanc were two goals ahead at the break. The fifteen-minute break did not change the character of the match and it was Takumi Minamino was close to adding a third but he came up against Diouf (49′). It was finally our Danish striker who took chargesjhortly thereafter by being on the lookout after a shot pushed back by Embolo (51′). It was his third consecutive hat-trick at the Stade Louis-II, quite simply historic!
The Reims team slightly got their heads above water after this new goal as Akieme forced Radoslaw Majecki to dive on his left (57′). The Polish goalkeeper was then vigilant on an attempt by Keito Nakamura (65′). Adi Hütter also took advantage of this to make a change with the entries of George Ilenikhena, Krépin Diatta and Eliesse Ben Seghir (74′) as well as Lucas Michal (79′), who quickly distinguished himself but his header went wide (84′).
This was the last chance of a game easily won by the club from the Principality against the Rémois (3-0). AS Monaco thus had a fourth win in a row at home and drew level with Nice in third place on the podium. It’s now time for Toulouse to travel to the Stadium pitch next Friday (8:45 p.m.) for the 25th day of Ligue 1. DAGHE MUNEGU! 🇲🇨
