Anderlecht have signed Ibrahim Kanaté (18) from the Afrique Football Elite set-up in his native Mali. The youth international arrives in Belgium as a reinforcement for the club’s RSCA Futures programme. The Purple & White’s second team are currently second from bottom in the Challenger Pro League.

Along with the acquisition of French talent Enzo Sternal from Marseille, the Malian becomes the second offensive reinforcement for the RSCA Futures squad as both Club Brugge and even Chelsea missed out on the teenager. As reported by Fabrizio Romano, AFE will receive €1.8 million for this transfer.

During the 2023 U17 World Cup, Kanaté shone brightly by scoring two goals and providing three assists, significantly contributing to Mali’s impressive third-place finish. With his strength, speed, and sharp eye for goal, he was one of the key architects of their historic performance and shows signs of being a firm fixture within the West African nation’s fine next generation.
