Chelsea have decided to compete with Arsenal in the race for striker Benjamin Sesko according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
The January window is currently in full swing and Chelsea have made their first signing with Mamadou Sarr set to arrive from Strasbourg for a deal reportedly worth up to €15m.
The Blues are also looking for options at the other end of the pitch as they look for a striker to compete with and challenge Nicolas Jackson.
Jackson has one again been Chelsea’s main man this season and has kept the more established Christopher Nkunku out of the side.
The 23-year-old has scored nine league goals, but has come in for criticism during Chelsea’s five game winless run for missing a host of opportunities.
Chelsea have been linked with Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel and Ipswich striker Liam Delap, who’s believed to be open to a move to Stamford Bridge.

Maresca stated in the build-up to the game against Wolves on Monday night that he didn’t think Chelsea needed to sign a “killer” striker as he backed Jackson to start finding the back of the net again.
However, Tavolieri has reported Chelsea have decided to join Arsenal in the race for RB Leipzig striker Sesko, in what is likely to be a deal for the summer.
Tavolieri has claimed Chelsea have spoken with Sesko’s representatives and recently contacted RB Leipzig for an initial discussion to ascertain the possibility of a deal, with it believed the 21-year-old can leave for £67m.
Both Chelsea and Arsenal had expressed interest in Sesko last summer before he signed an extension with the Bundesliga outfit, but it appears the Slovenia international could well be on the move this summer.

Sesko has scored 13 goals in 25 appearances this season and is regarded as one of the most promising young strikers in Europe, so it’s no surprise he’s attracting interest.
Chelsea could do with a striker this month and if they wait until the summer they would be taking a huge gamble, one which could potentially cost the Blues Champions League football.
