In the last couple of weeks, Frattesi has been at the centre of a lot of transfer rumours.

Reportedly, the former Sassuolo midfielder wants to leave Inter.

The reason for this is a lack of playing time.

It is not as though Frattesi does not get his opportunities on the pitch. Yesterday, the Italian international came on as a substitute against Venezia.

However, precisely the issue seems to be that so many of Frattesi’s appearances come off the bench.

The 25-year-old does not look able to get into the starting rotation in midfield.

And in the view of former Inter captain Bergomi, the problem could be tactical. He feels that Frattesi’s playing style wouldn’t really allow him to play many roles in the centre of the pitch.

Bergomi: “Davide Frattesi Can Only Play In Place Of Nicolo Barella At Inter”

Former Nerazzurri captain Bergomi said of Fratttesi that “Inzaghi doesn’t see him playing on the left.”

“He can only play in place of Barella,” the former captain continued.

“Inter are a team who look to control matches and use possession play.”

“They’ve scored thirteen times through defenders,” Bergomi noted.

The former Inter captain argued that Frattesi is “not that type of player.”

“He would be more suitable for playing the position that Koopmeiners does for Juve.”

“Maybe you could think to change the system?” Bergomi furthermore posited. “Like playing with two strikers and him in behind them, or one striker and two attacking midfielders.”

“But then, when Inter attack, you have to know how to play with your back to goal,” he furthermore noted.
