Manchester United’s latest signing Patrick Dorgu will play a huge role in Ruben Amorim’s side according to former Liverpool star Jan Mølby.

The 20-year-old Dane signed from Lecce during the January transfer window for €35 million.

He has been brought in to help solve United’s issues at left wing-back in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation.

Dorgu started his first game against Leicester in the FA Cup a week ago and impressed despite being taken off at half-time.

In a rather uninspired first half for the team as a whole, the youngster showed great pace and power, playing down the right hand side, and looked the Red Devils’ biggest attacking threat.

Speaking to Danish outlet Tipsbladet, Mølby claimed that United have their hands on a very exciting talent.

“We have to take our hats off to the fact we have three Danes in one of the world’s biggest football clubs. It’s incredible, right?” he said, referring to Dorgu, Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund.

The former FA Cup winner also praised how United have gone about their transfer business lately.

Molby stated, “as a Dane, it is incredibly exciting to have Dorgu at Manchester United. I really like his profile and the way Manchester United have started buying players.”

The former midfielder claimed that United’s newest signing is capable of playing on both sides and will bring a key element to the manager’s formation.

He asserted, “Dorgu has also played on the right at Lecce so he can play on both sides. One of the most important things for Amorim has been to control these wingbacks, so Dorgu really gets a key role on this Manchester United team.”

Regarding Eriksen, Molby speculated that his compatriot’s likely departure from Old Trafford this summer could see him stay in the Premier League.

“He likes being in England, and he has been to Brentford before,” Molby said. “There should be plenty of clubs that would like to have Eriksen.”

“Rasmus Højlund is a little harder to understand,” he said. “It is clear that he is not scoring enough goals. No one doubts that.”

“I have no doubt that Højlund will stay at Manchester United after the summer, but of course he also has to deliver.”
