“He’s not?” – Paul Scholes ridicules Man Utd star while echoing Amorim’s words

Paul Scholes was bewildered by the notion that Manchester United bought a striker who isn’t expected to score goals while discussing Joshua Zirkzee.
The legendary midfielder isn’t necessarily the biggest fan of the Dutch attacker. He had already named him amongst a host of players he’d like to get rid of back in January.
Since then, the former Bologna star has been showing continuous improvement in his displays, becoming a fan favourite at Old Trafford. The Red Army can be heard singing the player’s name whether at home or on the road in every match throughout the previous weeks, even after missing the spot-kick that spelled the end of the club’s FA Cup title defence against Fulham.
Man United support Adam McKola, who is a mainstay at the Stretford End, illustrated Zirkzee’s cult hero status at OT.
“Do you know who I love Scholesy? Joshua Zirkzee, man” said the United fanatic during his usual appearance on The Overlap Fan Debate.
McKola then admitted: “He’s never going to score a goal…” which drew a snarky reply from Scholes: “Oh that’s good then,” followed by a burst of laughter from the crowd.

“He was bought as a goalscorer wasn’t he, but he’s not going to score a goal?!” commented the legendary midfielder with a sense of irony and bemusement.
Scholes has occasionally been harsh on Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim, even describing be as a ‘little bit confused’ on one occasion. However, his comments on Zirkzee perfectly align with the manager’s assessment, as the Portuguese had recently urged the Netherlands international to start bagging ugly goals rather than appeasing the crowds with a clever flick or brilliant ball control.
Zirkzee can be described as an unconventional striker, as he likes to roam all over the pitch and play part in the buildup rather than wait and pray in the box.
