‘I am at a bigger club with bigger pressure’ – Amorim on comparisons to Postecoglou | OneFootball

Ruben Amorim says the pressure of managing Manchester United is bigger than the pressure Ange Postecolou is under at Spurs.

The two sides face off against each other on Sunday having endured disappointing seasons to date.

United sit 13th in the Premier League table while Tottenham are 14th.

And Amorim says he is a big admirer of Postecoglou and can relate to the pressure he is under, despite it being different.

“I am a huge fan of Ange Postecoglou,” he said.

“I am from a different culture, Portuguese and all the Portuguese coaches they can adapt. I adapt. I use one system because I believe if you do that system, you can use other systems at the same time. That is my idea.

“But, we are not winning games and I understand the connection with me and Ange, we have the same problems. In my opinion, with all due respect, I am at a bigger club, with bigger pressure. It is important for a coach to follow his principles.”

On if he feels sympathy for Postecoglou, he added: “Of course, especially because he is a good guy, a good coach, he wants to play football in the right way.

“When we choose this profession there is a lot of good things but then you feel that pressure when you don’t win.”

Amorim has won just four of his 13 league games in charge of the Red Devils, losing seven of them, and says the pressure to turn things around between now and the end of the season will be huge.

“Every game now until the end of the season is a big game for us,” he said.

“We need to improve the way we play football but especially we need to win.

“No matter what, we need to win and to do that we need to improve the way we play football.”
