There is expected to be movement in the investigation launched by the Anti-Mafia Commission into organised crime involvement in Italian football, with Inter Milan’s ultras at the heart of the matter.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Tuttosport, and via FCInterNews.it, the commission is keen to move ahead with their investigation into links between ultra groups at top Serie A clubs and mafia elements,

However, a delay in nominations for representatives on the commission may prompt Chairwoman Chiara Colosimo to appoint members directly in order to expedite the process.

It is expected that the commission will be made up of seven or eight delegates and some parliamentary groups have put forward candidates, but there is still a considerable delay in filling the numbers.

The investigation was launched after Inter Curva Nord ultra leader Andrea Beretta agreed to cooperate with authorities after being linked with ‘Ndrangheta mafia-related murders.

Inter President Beppe Marotta and AC Milan counterpart Paolo Scaroni are amongst a host of officials from top Serie A clubs who will be interviewed, whilst the commission will also seek to provide tools to prevent mafia infiltration in Italian football.
