FC Barcelona have finally arrived to the end of a rather bittersweet year from start to finish. The Catalan giants, despite facing many different kinds of difficulties, have managed to keep the entire ship afloat at least. However, as is always expected of Barcelona, that is simply not enough.
Higher aspirations are present and the club will do whatever it takes to achieve those objectives. However, before they can even consider those long-term goals, the Catalan giants must first solve their immediate problems that have become a great cause of frustration for them.
As of right now, the most crucial matter at hand is undeniably the registration issue of both Dani Olmo and Pau Victor. The two Barcelona summer signings were originally registered on a temporary basis but it is now time to re-register them with La Liga. Unfortunately, there is nothing too positive to report on that front.
Instead, La Liga has officially denied the registration of both players through their recent statement in regards to Barça’s inability to present solutions to comply with the squad cost limit, as reported by SPORT. The official statement from La Liga is as follows:
“LaLiga informs that, as of today, December 31, FC Barcelona has not presented any alternative that complies with LaLiga’s economic control regulations, enabling the registration of any players starting January 2.”
This comes as bad news for Barcelona at a time when things are already looking quite complicated. If the club is unable to register the two players in question, there is a big chance that they could end up becoming free agents and further complications could arise as well.
Despite the sale of VIP seats to various foreign buyers, it seems that the Catalan club is unable to produce the kind of revenue or guarantees that La Liga required for this particular situation. On the other hand, Barça have now officially sent another request to the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) for new registrations for both players.
As it stands, there is great urgency at the club in regards to both of their two summer signings. While the report does state that January 3 has indeed been identified as a key date to address this situation, La Liga’s most recent statement undoubtedly adds more pressure and complexity to this already massive issue.
