Multiple Serie A teams will change their coach in the summer, but not Lazio, barring a late change of heart, as Claudio Lotito is satisfied with what Marco Baroni has brought to the table this campaign. He announced it in an interview with Il Messaggero (via Fantacalcio).

“Our three-year projects started and will end with him. We will renew his contract. He has understood that rotating is the key to success.”

According to Calciomercato, Baroni risked not making it through the season, as the Lazio brass was unhappy with how he handled the squad from January on. Rather than firing the gaffer, the officials confronted him and talked him into changing his MO. The Biancocelesti are coming off a massive win over Atalanta and are in the thick of the Champions League race.

Lotito also dished on Gustav Isaksen, who almost left last summer and has been linked to Inter for the future.

“We decided to roll the dice on him before he broke out. We’re sure he’s a great player and still has upside like many others who joined us not too long ago.”

The Biancocelesti won’t be able to lean on Nuno Tavares for two to three weeks due to a new thigh strain, Tuttomercatoweb informs. It’s his sixth absence of the season, which he had begun with a flurry of assists in the first few matches.

Our Take on Lazio and Baroni

The last couple of months will be pivotal to pass judgment on their year since they are in the running for two big objectives. Still, the choice to go against the grain with a coach from a minnow has been decently successful already.
