FC Barcelona have always had the ability to retain academy talent in the first-team squad like not many clubs around the world. Not many La Masia graduates who have genuine potential leave the club to move elsewhere, except for a few exceptions.
The Catalan club tends to give youngsters a starring role in the first team and Hansi Flick’s ambitious project in Spain so far has been built on this foundation. It is not like there is no interest from other European clubs though.
For example, as per Fichajes, Manchester United are plotting an ambitious plan to sign talented Barcelona defensive prodigy Alejandro Balde. The Spaniard is a mainstay in Hansi Flick’s team in Spain but could get some offers from England.
Man Utd under Ruben Amorim are looking to wipe the slate clean for the umpteenth time and rebuild a project from scratch. The Portuguese tactician has a clear idea on how he wants his team to play football and sets them up in a 3-4-3 formation.
Balde would perfectly fit into the left-wing-back role at Old Trafford and is the perfect kind of profile that Amorim would want. In fact, the ex-Sporting CP manager is prepared to part ways with Alejandro Garnacho to make this signing happen.
However, the reality is that Manchester United at this point are strictly nothing more than a glorified mid-table PL club still resting on their laurels. For the better part of the last decade, mediocrity has plagued the club and run them into the ground.
There is absolutely no reason for a player as talented as Alejandro Balde to leave a promising project at Barcelona to join a mundane one in Manchester. It is highly unlikely that the English club can convince the player.
Moreover, having come through La Masia, Balde will want to succeed at Barcelona in all likelihood and he seems to be getting better with every passing game. There seems to be no sauce to this transfer saga but let’s wait and see how it plays out.
