Newcastle United 18 year old makes debut for England Under 21s – Impressive | OneFootball

Great to see so many Newcastle United players involved with England these days.

Not just the senior team, also the younger age groups.

Opportunity knocked for Lewis Hall, as he grasped the opportunity with both hands when upgraded to the England team, as nine ‘injured’ drop outs saw Lee Carsley promote a number of players from the England Under 21s.

Making his senior England debut off the bench, the NUFC left-back was excellent as he played the whole of the second half in the 3-0 drubbing of Greece on their home turf.

With those promotions to the senior England side from the Under 21s, a number of young stars then got promoted to the England Under 21s for their November internationals from the England Elite Squad (Under 20s).

Amongst them was 18 year old Newcastle United midfielder Lewis Miley, his first call up into the Under 21s.

Last year, Lee Carsley won the Under 21s Euros, Anthony Gordon named player of the tournament after they defeated Spain in the final.

Friday saw a repeat of that summer 2023 Euros final, as England played Spain in  Cadiz.

In difficult wet and windy conditions, a relatively inexperienced young Three Lions side were up against it for much of the first half but defended well to keep the game goalless.

England improved after the break and had a much better second half, creating chances of their own.

On 68 minutes, at the age of just 18, Lewis Miley got his chance.

Replacing Sunderland’s Jobe Bellingham, the Newcastle United teenager put in an impressive shift as he got his first ever minutes for the England Under 21s.

A few late scares including Spain hitting the woodwork but England saw out a very decent goalless draw.

Especially when you consider the relative experience of the England Under 21s and the fact that Spain have only lost once in the last three years on home soil.

Lewis Miley and his England Under 21 teammates now face Holland on Monday night, that game to be played in the Dutch city of Almere.
