Real Madrid are reportedly keeping a close watch on Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, with the Spanish giants eyeing him as a potential successor to Luka Modric.

As per reports from England, relayed by Mundo Deportivo, Los Blancos have been regularly monitoring the Portuguese midfielder’s performances by attending United’s matches both at Old Trafford and during away fixtures.

Fernandes has been a pivotal figure for Manchester United over the last few seasons, known for his creativity, vision, and ability to score crucial goals.

His contract with the English club runs until 2027, with the option of extending it for an additional year.

Real Madrid are impressed

It is said that Real Madrid appear determined to find a suitable replacement for Modric, whose contract is set to expire this summer.

The Croatian maestro has been a central figure in Madrid’s midfield for years, but the club is now looking ahead to ensure a smooth transition once he eventually leaves.

As such, the club sees Fernandes as a complete midfielder capable of filling the void left by Modric.

His ability to contribute both defensively and offensively, combined with his knack for generating play and scoring goals, makes him an attractive option for the Spanish club.

Negotiations will be tough

Manchester United, however, are unlikely to let go of their captain without a fight. Reports suggest that if Real Madrid were to pursue Fernandes, United would demand around €100 million for his services.

This hefty price tag highlights the importance of Fernandes to the English side and their reluctance to part ways with him.

While the asking price is substantial, Real Madrid could be willing to make a significant investment to secure the midfielder’s talents, especially considering Modric’s uncertain future at the club.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid are also said to be considering other options for the midfield position, with Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi being one of the names mentioned.
