Benjamin Sesko’s release clause at RB Leipzig has risen to over €80m due to clauses in his contract.
Sesko’s deal contains a flexible release clause that will increase dependent on performances for the German side. The 21-year-old has scored 21 goals in all competitions this season and remains an option for several Premier League clubs heading into the summer.
Arsenal and Chelsea both saw approaches for Sesko snubbed last summer, who turned down interest from England in favour of signing a new deal. Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have also all tracked his progress at Leipzig. Each of those sides are expected to sign strikers in the summer window.
Arsenal are long-standing suitors of the player and have made a number nine their recruitment focus. The Gunners have spent the campaign’s run-in without a recognised forward, after Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz each sustained long-term injuries.
Sesko is a player of interest to the North London side, who are seeking a focal point. The Slovenia international has scored 39 goals in 85 games since joining Leipzig from sister-club Red Bull Salzburg and is regarded as one of the best up-and-coming centre-forwards in Europe. He has also netted 16 times in 41 caps for Slovenia at senior level.
Sky Germany are now reporting that his release clause has now swelled to €80m (£68.1m) ahead of the summer transfer window. However, Leipzig will consider allowing Sesko to leave for a lower fee if an offer arrives that is deemed suitable.
